Sub-pixel Shift Measurement Based on Correlation
Original language description
If is required higher (sub-pixel) resolution, is necessary to use an interpolation. If input sequences (pictures) are interpolated (their sampling rate is increased) and then will be computed the cross-correlation function, is possible to find out the shift level with higher accuracy. This method is improper to the implementation into a digital signal processor (DSP) or field programmable gate array (FPGA), because it requires high performance and expensive DSP or FPGA. Therefore is preferable to acquire the information about sub-pixel shift from already computed cross-correlation function. This information can be obtained from the peak of the cross-correlation function and its shape, which is subject of this paper. Subject of this paper is how to obtain the level of sub-pixel shift from the shape of cross-correlation function.
