Original language description
Electromagnetic contactless heat treatment of levitated nonferrous metals belongs to mature technologies and is applied when very low level of contamination of the processed metal is needed. Two basic manners can be used to realize the technology: the method of a cold crucible and levitation heating (or melting). As the processes consume a lot of energy, the design of the corresponding devices and their parts must be optimized, which requires a thorough knowledge of all physical phenomena that take place during the process.
