The paper analyses performance of IEEE 802.16, also known as WiMAX, when relay stations are introduced. Thanks to this feature, coverage and throughput may be significantly enhanced. The article describes MAC frame and its necessary changes for relay utilization and further investigates how the performance of the system is affected.
