Predicting Relapse in Schizophrenia Using Communication Technology and Pattern Recognition Techniques
Original language description
The patients with psychotic diseases, especially with schizophrenia diagnosis have one of the highest relapse rates characterized by long-stay hospitalization. The system ITAREPS (Information Technology Aided Relapse Prevention in Schizophrenia) has beendeveloped for rapid and targeted recognition of early warning signs of psychotic disorder relapse. It employs modern communication and information technology for timely intervention during initial phase of relapse. There was a large decrease in the number of hospitalizations within the cooperating participants of the ITAREPS system. Efficiency, benefits and problems of the ITAREPS system is discussed. Consequently, suggestions for more sophisticated relapse prediction are introduced.
