fMRI in patients with writer's cramp treated by repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) of the primary somatosensory cortex
Original language description
It has been suggested that the somatosensory system is affected in focal dystonia, alongside the involvement of the motor circuits. Hence our study focused on the functional modulation of the primary somatosensory cortex (SI) induced by repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) performed to improve symptoms of writer's cramp. Writer's cramp is the most frequent task-specific dystonia manifested as involuntary co-contractions of the agonists and antagonists of the forearm and hand, and experienced mainly in writing.
