Pelling et al. demonstrated a local nanomechanical motion of the cell wall of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisi? under physiological conditions using AFM. Considering electrically polar cytoskeleton subunits (e.g. heterodimer of tubulin), we suggest this mechanical oscillations could generate oscillating electric field in the immediate vicinity of the cell.
