This paper is aimed at a scientific image data processing and compression. The analyzed data is obtained from all-sky optical systems. An alternative low-cost optical all-sky system for astronomical observing will be briefly described. The study also deals with possibility of Karhunen - Lo?ve Transform (KLT) application for astronomical data compression.
