Possible exchange of classical mechanical pumps used in cooling loops of nuclear reactors by pumps working on the magnetohyd-rodynamic (MHD) principle is investigated. Operation of the MHD pumps is analyzed in two types of newly built nuclear reactors. The results are evaluated and discussed.
