Implantable Mechanical Circulatory Support Device in the Left Atrium
Original language description
New solution for mechanical circulatory support combines the principle of balloon inflation and deflation with mechanical valves. The system consists of a pump, a pressure cable and console. A pump placed in the left atrium, consists of a pump casing, four input tubes and one output tube. The input tubes are directed to the pulmonary veins, while the output tube extends through the mitral valve annulus into the left ventricle. The pump is filled through the input valves in the input tubes while the balloon is deflated by vacuum generated by the compressor and transferred through the hollow, closed system. The output valve in the output tube is closed inside the pump casing when the pressure drops. The pump is emptied through the output valve in the output tube by the balloon inflating under pressure generated by a compressor through the hollow, closed system via the pressure cable. The input valves in the input tubes are closed by pressure within the pump casing
