In this paper we study approaches for storage of XML data. Firstly, we describe possibilities how to store XML data in relational databases, but the main attention of this article is oriented to native XML databases. We describe general properties of such sort of databases and, in particular, explain possible solutions on the two experimental native XML database management systems - ExDB and CellStore.
