Original language description
Locusta is a web-based application for a support of production planning and scheduling. The application has been developed during the international Eureka project called NewTechno - Electro contact. Its main purpose is to unify the definition of jobs, process plans and production resources and to support a creation of a production schedule in Styl Plzeň, cooperative society. Projects in Locusta can be duplicated, allowing user to try different scenarios of resource availability or jobs specification before the final production schedule is created. A schedule is presented in the form of interactive Gantt chart, which is embedded into the web page. Due to the interactivity of the Gantt chart, users can modify the schedule given by a scheduling algorithmin a simple and effective way so that it reflects their own knowledge of the scheduling process. A novel scheduling algorithm called IRSA has been developed for the purposes of the optimization of production.
