Estimation Accuracy of Weibull Distribution Parameters in Reliability Practice
Original language description
The Weibull distribution is commonly used as a lifetime distribution in reliability. The Weibull distribution is so often used because of its hight variability - two-parameter Weibull distribution can represent a decreasing, constant or increasing failure rate. In this paper, we compare methods for estimating the parameters of Weibull distribution. The most commonly used methods are: least squares and maximum likelihood. In two-step test we used test data sets containing generated random values and datacontaining measured values of electrical resistance of electrically conductive adhesives. The means square error was used as a metrics for the comparison between these methods. We found that the maximum likelihood method is not always the best method for estimating the parameters of the Weibull distributions.
