Performance of HDF in Non-Coherent IR-UWB Systems with Imperfect Time-Synchronization of the Nodes
Original language description
The paper deals with an application of the Hierarchical Decode and Forward (HDF) strategy in 2-Way Relay Channel in non-coherent impulse-radio ultra wideband (IR-UWB) systems. HDF is a communication strategy allowing the cooperation of the nodes on the physical layer. It was already proposed and analysed but here we investigate its possible usage in relatively simple IR-UWB systems. This is connected with several differences compared to the narrowband systems - UWB multipath channel, imperfect time-synchronization of the nodes, etc. As the results suggest, the channel parametrization (different channel impulse responses) and mutual time-shift of the signals from communicating nodes are some of the important factors affecting the results. We will see that some modulation schemes can be relatively robust to some of these factors.
