Measurement and Analysis of Electro-Acoustic Systems for Assistive Technology

  • Original language description

For acoustic navigation of visually impaired persons the artificially created sound signals are used. One way to create the virtual audio space is by using binaural signals obtained by an artificial head. To design and create these signals it is necessary to know electro-acoustic properties of the system used. For that reason, this contribution deals with measurement and detailed analysis of transfer functions, non-linear distortion and crosstalk of a complete electro-acoustic test system with an artificial head. Analysis includes electro-acoustic transducers, such as headphones and microphones as well as the influence of outer ear and eventually may include a correction for the particular sound perception of individual persons.
