Intracavitary Hyperthermia Applicator Research for Cancer Treatments
Original language description
Main aim of this paper is to verify and thus support experimental results given in recently published paper: "Prospects for radiofrequency hyperthermia applicator research. I-Preoptimised prototypes of endocavitary applicators with matching interfaces for prostate hyperplasia and cancer treatments" via electromagnetic (EM) field simulations (in order to determine a 3D SAR distribution in the treated area). In the above mentioned paper we selected a helix radiating structures case only for our simulations. Scientific contribution of this paper is thus based on comparison of 3D SAR distribution obtained by EM simulations vs. that obtained by experimental evaluation. In this paper we will present 3D SAR simulations of "8mm OD helix structure" applicator working at 27.12 MHz, which is of novel design.
