Using Evolutionary Algorithms for Optimization of Analog Electronic Filters

  • Original language description

The optimization of electronic circuits can be a serious problem, therefore it is necessary to apply a powerful and robust algorithm. Common methods are not suitable always, they often fail. However, the listed requirements are satisfied by evolutionaryalgorithms (EAs). Several methods belong in EAs, the differential evolution, genetic algorithms, etc. The chapter is focused on the optimization and design of analog filters using differential evolution. Usually, component values are necessary to be determined to meet given requirements (filter characteristics). Analog filters can be implemented by two basic ways - continuous-time and discrete-time circuits. There is shown methods based on EAs for the design and optimization of the both types of filterimplementation in this chapter.
