Structure and Dielectrical Properties of Composites Polystyrene - Carbon Black

  • Original language description

Properties of carbon black - polymer composites are reasonably affected not only by the carbon black content but also by the distribution or agglomeration of carbon black particles or by the structure of carbon black continuous network. Agglomeration isthe result of Van der Waals forces which can be influenced by the present of other substances namely ions. This work deals with optical observations and consequently electrical properties of carbon black - polystyrene composites with modified carbon black. There are differences in the structures and electrical behaviours of the samples with carbon black dried, soaked in water or ethanol and with carbon black with lower ion concentration.
