Optimization methods in video filter design
Original language description
This paper deals with fully evolutionary design method for low-pass video filter. Proposed optimization method has been successfully used by the authors in their recent work [1,3,5] on several levels of abstraction (block-, functional model-, transistor-level, etc.). The 5th order active SDTV filter design was chosen as an example of functionality of the proposed filter design process. For illustration of universality two promising active elements for application in different 2nd order selective blockswere selected - transconductance amplifier (OTA) and current conveyor (CCII) based solutions will be compared.. Since the above mentioned blocks are optimized as wide band blocks, the tolerance scheme of any other LP filter with pass band as wide as tensof MHz could be used as well (e.g. HDTV). The transistor level representation of the filter is realized in 0.25 um CMOS technology with low supply voltage (1.8 V) and low consumption (up to 2 mW).
