The work describes the basics of IP version 6 Multicast on LAN networks. It deals with analysis of Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) protocol that is used for learning whether members of a multicast group are presented on their directly connected subnets. It describes two versions of MLD protocol and their differences. It analyses both headers of the protocols. And finally it deals with bases of MLD snooping that is used for reducing the flooding of IPv6 multicast traffics.
