Advanced Procedures for Handover in Femtocells
Original language description
The deployment of femtocells is linked with several problems related to user's mobility. Dense deployment of femtocells with open/hybrid access leads to a rise in amount of mobility events. Consequently, it negatively influences users' quality of service. This effect can be partly suppressed by conventional techniques used in networks with macrocells only; however, it is at the cost of drop in user?s throughput. This document provides several solutions for elimination of negative aspects related to user's mobility in femto-based networks. Three areas of mobility support are addressed: hard handover; fast cell selection; and vertical handover. For hard handover, three techniques, differing in efficiency and complexity, are proposed. All proposals outperform conventionally used techniques. Additionally, handover considering asymmetry in cost of the connection via macro and femto cells is designed. Further, investigation of potential utilization of fast cell selection in femtocell network
