This paper presents the results of an investigation of a new version of a leaky wave antenna that is based on a CRLH substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The antenna is designed so that it can radiate in two frequency bands. The direction of the main lobe of the antenna radiation pattern can be steered by changing the frequency in both bands from backward direction to forward direction. The measured characteristics are in good agreement with those predicted by the simulation. The SIW structure based onstandard PCB technology makes the antenna suitable for integration directly into T/R circuits or antenna arrays.
