Harmonic-to-noise ratio extraction for speech pathology detection on sustained vowel phonations

  • Original language description

Voice pathology can be one of the early signs of brain disorder, where for example the Parkinson disease can be placed. In this article is presented the detection algorithm of one vocal parameter called HNR (harmonicto- noise ratio). The aim of the workis to design the timedomain algorithm for detecting this vocal parameter, regarding to the robustness and automation with minimisation of external parameters set-up. Accuracy of the algorithm is tested on two different databases which consist of variouskinds of pathological voices and control group. To verify accuracy of the proposed algorithm we compare our results with HNR algorithm supplied in software package Praat. Our results reach high degree of correlation (R>0.9-0.95, p<0.001) on both databases.
