Original language description
An optical interferometric method is used to measure a thermal expansion coefficient of a copper rod. Heating process is responsible for the increased length of the investigated rod, placed in a measuring arm of an interferometer. Based on obtained interferograms and the measurement of initial length and temperature changes, thermal expansion coefficient is calculated. Potential observation errors originated at the measurements of initial length and temperature are considered. Mathematical apparatus aswell as sample calculations of observational errors and the estimation of overall accuracy of measured thermal expansion coefficient are obtained by using an exact differential method.
