The invention deals with a fluxgate sensor designed for precise measurement of the first-order gradient of magnetic fields in feedback compensating mode, while allowing to simultaneously measure also the homogeneous component of these fields. With a single sensor, it is therefore possible to design a gradiometer as well as a magnetometer in compensating mode.
