Potential Use of Gigabit Digital Subscriber Lines in Hybrid Access Networks
Original language description
Digital subscriber lines seemed to have reached the last stage of its development. Further development of the fixed access network is a matter of optical fibers. However, the upcoming ITU-T recommendation with working title g.fast gives to metallic lineanother chance. The very high speed digital subscriber line (VDSL2) is standardized for the frequency bands to 12, 18 and 30 MHz. In next stage digital subscriber lines with gigabit rates will use in the frequency bands to 100, 200 and possibly up to 300MHz. This paper describes model of the local telecommunication cable and achievable bit rates for gigabit DSL under different conditions, which will be offered to subscribers. The resulting bit rates are calculated depending on the length of the line with a copper core diameter of 0.4 mm.
