Wireless optical links can due to the wide bandwidths available considerably improve so far reached bit rates over atmosphere medium. Nevertheless several propagation phenomena like fog scattering, thermal turbulences restrict their widespread use. The paper is focused on comparison of elevated link performance and coverage RF links and optical links for the case when users are within street canyons. Results from the measurement of fog attenuation were implemented in a simulation tool from millimeter wave bands, in order to characterize a masking function generally used to find nonblocked connections from users within street canyons from/to the satellites
