Technical Universities Today: Looking for Next-generation Students
Original language description
At present time, technical universities suffer from a huge decrease of students? number. This situation has many negative consequences, from dramatic reduction of financial support to successive atrophy of education as a whole. Moreover, in the horizon of several years we have to expect the lack of young prospective engineers entering the job market. This may lead to lower competitiveness of the domestic industry in the European as well as the global context. Therefore it should be a priority of technical universities to attract the attention of future students by all means in the early stage ? at secondary or even elementary schools. At the Department of Telecommunication Engineering there are currently running two projects focused on establishing oflinks with secondary schools. The paper describes particular means, methods and approaches of this cooperation.
