    Acoustically Stabilized Edge to Wire Electrode Electrical Discharges

  • Original language description

    We describe acoustical stabilization of the negative corona discharge in air with razor blade electrode against grounded wire electrode placed axially in a cylindrical resonator in the pressure node of the acoustic standing waves. When the standing wavesare applied the discharge becomes more uniform and its volume is substantially increased along entire edge of the blade electrode. Images of the discharges for various acoustic field strengths are presented.
