Computational Analysis of a Comprehensive Solving Strategy of Large Power Grid Models
Original language description
Power grid simulation models are commonly used by transmission system operators (TSOs) to predict future power demand and production under various conditions. These models are often formulated using mixed integer linear programming and solved by state-of-the-art solvers. The rolling horizon optimization approach is commonly used to deal with large models with long simulation horizons. The simulation interval is divided into smaller horizons that are solved sequentially. The selected horizon length has asignificant influence to the solution quality and overall computational time. This influence is analysed on a series of annual Czech power grid simulations with different horizon lengths and optimal horizon length is selected. The recently developed andpublished efficient solving strategy that utilizes simplified power grid model with heuristic fixation reduced the overall computational time significantly. The heuristic parameters of this method are also subjects of a computational ana
