The paper deals with design of an optical detector intended for fiber optic sensors. Fiber optical sensor systems are becoming important role in daily life and are briefly described in the introduction. The paper contains detailed analysis of a transimpedance amplifier including a design and noise analysis. Equations for all important calculations are presented. The paper also describes a compromise between a dynamic range and sensitivity. All important steps by design of the transimpedance amplifier are described and can be used as a simple design manual for students or electrical engineers.
