Electrical energy is a key driver in the development of every nation. In the case of Nigeria, the electricity supply to her teaming population is inadequate, translating to an energy poor society. Hence, a review of the electrical energy sources in Nigeria is necessary for effective optimal energy policies to increase her consumption rate. This paper gave a vivid description of electrical energy systems in Nigeria, with the various sources of electrical energy in the country, such as, natural gas, coaland hydroelectric stations clearly highlighted. Further the paper talks about electricity consumption in the country and the organisation of her power systems network. Lastly, proposals were made to increase electrical power consumption in the most populous country in Africa.
