The paper is an overview of prospective HVDC projects in the world in the horizon of 10-20 years. The overview includes information for all parts of the world. It shows differences in converter and transmission line technologies and applications for different parts of the world. Characteristics like voltage level and nominal power of the system are crucial for power transmission. The main purpose of the paper is to show development of the HVDC technology and systems. Specify tendency in power systems and foreseen application of HVDC in the future are included.
