Original language description
This paper proposes setting algorithm for adaptive protection scheme based on directional overcurrent protections with inverse-time characteristics. Use example of an adaptive algorithm is illustrated on distributed generation system switched into islandmode. After switching the grid into island mode, system-short circuit conditions get usually rapidly changed, and new setting must be calculated and set into adaptive protections. Each protection is set individually due to topical grid configuration through communication line by superior system. Superior system includes model of grid and allows for computation of short-circuit currents in all branches and nodes of the system. Advantage of protection scheme based on directional protections with inverse-time characteristics is certain resistance to small changes in short-circuit currents and possible protection of the grid in case of communication failure with superior system.
