*Region coverings with satellite images

Original language description

*Given a large database of geo-referenced satellite images with additional binary masks indicating visibility for each pixel, the task is to retrieve optimal subsets of images on user requests. A typical request is defined by a particular area and a particular time period. The task is to choose a subset of images from the archive such that each pixel of the requested area is visible in at least one image and, at the same time, the number of transmitted images is small. We formalise several variants of this task and propose possible algorithms for their solution.
