Insulation Coordination of Insulator Strings under Dry and Wet Conditions

  • Original language description

The main aim of this paper is the estimate or calculation of the flashover voltage for different insulator configurations under dry or wet conditions. The main parameter influencing the flashover voltage is the arcing distance. The others parameters influencing the flashover voltage belong to especially material of insulator (composite, glass, porcelain), configuration of insulator string (suspension, tension, “V” string or the others special configurations) and IEC standard setup (bar 300 mm, wire 1000 mm). The parallel arrangement of insulators (single, double or triple) is the other parameter, which can influence the flashover voltage. The more information is written in objects about this problematic. The estimate of flashover voltage for insulator strings should be explained the behavior of insulators during testing and help in the designing of insulators without using of testing. Especially the measured values of switching impulse voltage test are very interesting and the behaviour insulators under these tests are not explained satisfactory. It would be good to continue in the research in the future.
