Cable Qualification for Nuclear Power Plants
Original language description
Electric cables are a very important part of nuclear power plant (NPP) systems. They must maintain their function during normal long-term operation and some safety-related cables also during postulated accidents, which may include the loss of coolant accident (LOCA) and/or the severe accident (core melt accident, hydrogen burning). This paper describes cable qualification in general. The process of thermal and radiation ageing and functional properties with their acceptance criteria are the main differences. This document is aimed at I&C and low voltage power cables (<600V), but some methods may be applicable to medium voltage cables, too.
