    A transmission line loaded with open shunt stubs exhibits transmission zeros at the frequency where the electrical length of the stub is 90º and at its odd harmonics. By loading such stubs with half-wavelength resonators, printed on a different substrate, the transmission zero splits in two notches, causing roughly total transmission at the frequency of the original transmission zero. It is shown in this paper that this effect is of interest for the implementation of near-field chipless-RFID systems based on tags consisting of a chain of half-wavelength resonators. The main potential benefit is an increase of the per unit length information density of the tags, as compared to other similar approaches for near-field chipless-RFID.
