Simulation and Measurement of Bypass Diodes Functionality within Laboratory Exercises
Original language description
Bypass diodes are an integral part of the most of current silicon PV modules and help ensure troublefree operation of the module under different light conditions. The main function of the bypass diode is well known and is often simply explained as a protection of the module against power loss at partial shading. This article describes how to present this partial truth to students and how to help them, by using standard simulation tools and laboratory exercises, to study and understand the behavior of this part of the PV Module.
