A Microwave Interferometric Sensor for Measuring Fast Mechanical Processes in Demanding Environments
Original language description
Research, development and operation of modern devices is dependent on the use of a number of different sensors. This includes sensors used for contactless measurement of mechanical motions. For these purposes, devices ranging from inductive to ultrasound to optics are commonly employed. If the mechanical motions are fast and are going on in a demanding environment, e.g. in heavy dust, using the above-mentioned sensors is challenging. In this work, a relatively simple contactless sensor based on a CW radar structure was developed and its function verified by practical tests. The sensor can be used for a variety of measurements. This particular work was motivated by the measurement of mechanical transient responses of military vehicles hit by land mines.
