    2D Microwave System for Testing of Brain Stroke Imaging Algorithm

    In this work, measured data from the 2D microwave imaging system were used to test the ability of the iterative Gauss-Newton algorithm to display stroke phantoms in a simple head phantom. The imaging system consists of an antenna array with ten bowtie slot antennas, a 2.5 D reconfigurable human head phantom, stroke phantoms, and related measurement technology and software. Reconfigurable head phantom has 23 different positions for stroke phantom placement. In this paper, we selected 9 representative positions covering unique positions in the head phantom with respect to the geometric symmetry of the phantom and antenna systems. For these 9 positions, the permittivity and conductivity profiles were reconstructed for hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke phantoms, and the results are discussed.
