Original language description
The paper reports about design and simulation of planar optical multimodal splitters in combination with plastic optical fibers for visible spectrum. These devices consisted of Veroclear RGD810 core and Polydimethylsiloxane PDMS substrate/cladding. The design of splitters was simulated optimised by Beam Propagation Method using RSoft software and simulated by using ray tracing method used OptiCAD software. The simulations were done for width of waveguide core 750 µm and 1000 µm on wavelength 650 nm. Core was manufactured by 3D printer Stratasys Objet 30 Pro. Estimation of total excess loss was discussed using waveguide loss theory. Material constants were measured. Both - extrinsic and intrinsic factors were defined and used for this estimation. The lowest values of optical insertion loss simulated were 1.6 dB for the first model and compared to values measured. The estimation was used to refine more precise model for OptiCAD simulation. And the final model is presented. Finally, the lowest values of optimized model will be discussed.
