A Comparative Study of Eddy Current Speed Sensors for Rotating Speed Measurement of Iron Shafts
Original language description
A comparative study of two rotational eddy current speed sensors is presented for sensitivity and susceptibility assessment against shaft material properties. The sensors have different coil configurations, with one excitation coil and two antiserially connected pickup coils. The performance of two sensors is compared and evaluated with two iron shafts with different materials shielded by an aluminum shell. The theoretical study of two sensors is performed using the 2D analytical method and the 3D finite element method. The eddy current sensors are measured for a speed range of ±3000 rpm and 500 Hz. The evaluation of eddy current sensors performance for higher speeds is also presented.
