Comparative Analysis of Methods for Partial Discharge Calibrator Performance
Original language description
Partial discharge (PD) calibrators are utilized to determine the conversion constant of a measurement system employed to quantify partial discharge quantities. Since the characteristics of such calibrators may change over time, it is essential to conduct periodic checks on these characteristics at regular intervals and after any repairs. The fundamental parameters that should be monitored include charge magnitude, unit voltage rise time, and pulse repetition rate. The latest edition of IEC 60270-2015 recommends methods for verifying these parameters. However, all of these methods are susceptible to the effects of cable capacitance and the capacitive component of the oscilloscope input impedance, particularly when measuring low charge values. These low charge values are increasingly common in current calibrators. This paper focuses on comparing and analyzing these methods to achieve the lowest possible measurement uncertainty.
