Q-factor and Bandwidth for Multi-Port Antennas

  • Original language description

This paper proposes a Q-factor for multi-port antennas, which follows the inverse proportionality to fractional bandwidth. The derivation is based on the second derivative of total efficiency and can be expanded to account for more general cases, such as adding dissipation losses. It is shown that the new formula coincides with results known for single-port antennas. A simple case of two parallel dipoles demonstrates the most salient features of the proposed theory.
