The present article explores the acquisition of key production technology for the manufacture of the first Czechoslovak mechanical wristwatches. The text undertakes an analysis of the significance of the acquisition of special machine tools as a remnant of the wartime production of timed fuses for anti-aircraft ammunition on Czechoslovak territory in the context of the subsequent post-war launch of the industrial production of mechanical wristwatches. The article places particular emphasis on the significance and role of the special machinery especially so-called automatic sliding head lathes, which represent a critical machinery necessary for the successful implementation of the task of introducing the industrial production of mechanical wristwatches in Czechoslovakia.
