Development of a 434 MHz Regional Hyperthermia Applicator Using 8 Bow-tie Antennas

  • Original language description

This work presents the design, simulation, and experimental evaluation of a novel regional microwave hyperthermia applicator utilizing an array of eight optimized Bow-Tie antennas operating at 434 MHz. Compared to wire-dipole systems, Bow-Tie antennas offer broader bandwidth and improved impedance matching, important for efficient energy transfer. Using Sim4Life software we optimized the antenna geometry to achieve a minimal reflection coefficient (|s11| parameter). The macufactured applicator was tested using the ALBA hyperthermia system. The results confirm that the applicator meets the efficiency criteria for therapeutic use.
