    A Two Colour M-PAM Optical Camera Communication System for Near-Field Robotic Applications

  • Original language description

    A dual color multi-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) optical camera communication (OCC) system for use in near-field robotic application is presented. Using two red and blue light emitting diodes (LEDs), combined with adaptive alignment and rolling shutter-based sampling the proposed system can achieve effective tracking of the LED transmitter and provide high-quality performance even in mobile environments Results demonstrate a data rate and a signal-to-noise ratio of 8.7 kbps and 33 dB, respectively for 4-PAM under the near-field condition (i.e., <1 m), while in an ideal condition, a data rate of 17.6 kbps is achieved for 16-PAM.
