The Future of the Past: Artificial Intelligence and Historical Research in the Field of History of Science and Technology - 3rd Annual Regular Conference on the History of Science and Technology at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Czech Technical University in Prague

  • Original language description

The international conference focused on a so-far unstudied and unpublished field in the Czech Republic: the integration of historical studies and modern technologies with the aim of analyzing the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in history, and especially in the history of science and technology. SVK2025 provided a platform for discussion on how AI is transforming methods of studying, analyzing, and interpreting historical data, while also reflecting on its potential and ethical challenges. The main thematic areas of the conference were: (a) the historical use of technology and its impact on the development of science and technology; (b) AI methods for the processing and analysis of historical data; (c) the digitization of archival sources and new approaches to the study of historical materials; and (d) a critical reflection on AI from the perspectives of history, the history of science and technology, and society. The conference was intended for scholars, historians, engineers, and all those interested in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of technological development, technology studies, and the humanities. The aim was not only to generate new knowledge, but also to create a space for dialogue about the future use of AI in historical disciplines.
