New fields of applications of computers are coupled with an increasing demand for electromagnetic compatibility. One of the main sources of DC and LF disturbing magnetic fields is electric traction; in the case of large cities mainly power supply of metro and tram. This type of disturbing fields causes interference in cathode-ray tubes (CRT). The 21" diagonal CRT is sensitive to fields higher than about 2 - 10 microtesla. Two types of the monitor shielding were developed and produced at the Department of Measurement. The first type is made of two shells of amorphous material, the second type is based on the high permeability permalloy.
