Translating DEMO Models into Petri Net

  • Original language description

The DEMO methodology presents a systematic way for developing an ontological model of an enterprise. Its profound theoretical foundation is suitable for modeling complex business processes in an enterprise. A major drawback of the DEMO methodology lies in its inability to simulate the created model in order to get insight into the model's behavior, conduct a performance analysis or be able to compare design options. In this paper, a method of translating the DEMO models into Petri net model, which is asuitable technique for process simulation, is proposed. The method includes an analysis of information needed to build a Petri net model. The method is comprised of a set of modeling constructs, supplemented with an overview of aspects that are includedin DEMO models and information that would have to be added for performance analysis.
